Starting a career at BLUE: we’re hiring!

Every day, we see climate change stories hitting the headlines across the world. With a focus on true sustainability since 2008, our team at BLUE is passionate about working in the marine and renewable energy sectors, where this is a key narrative and where we are genuinely able to influence this conversation. It’s never been a more dynamic time to work in this space and we’re looking for talented and likeminded individuals to join our team across all of our offices in Oxford, London and Leeds.

We spoke to some of our Account Executives to get their insight into what it’s been like beginning their careers at BLUE.

“The maritime and renewable energy sectors are the unseen cogs that keep the global economy and the energy transition turning, but they are so often unseen and under-appreciated,” said Conor Mosedale, Senior Account Executive, who works between home and BLUE’s Oxford office. “It's a great feeling to know that you are helping to bring the incredibly important work that goes on in these sectors into the spotlight. These are also such multifaceted industries - I've learnt so much since I've been here, about things I would never have known otherwise.”

On what’s challenging about his role at BLUE, Conor said that while there are so many exciting things going on all the time, it can be difficult to keep track of everything. “But I have a great team to support me,” he says, “so things can be challenging – but not overwhelming.”

When asked what the best part about working at BLUE has been so far, Account Executive Rohini Lakhani, said: “The clients are some of the nicest people to work with, and that's in addition to the great, purpose-driven work they're doing. It really makes you feel like you're part of something genuinely impactful.” Rohini has been at BLUE for 1.5 years and is based in BLUE’s London office.

“BLUE socials are also great,” she continued. “We've grown a fair bit recently, so it's still nice to carve out time to get together and unwind as a team, which really helps to build those important internal relationships.”

When it comes to an environmental issue that Rohini wishes people cared more about, she highlighted microplastics and oil spills. “I think it's easy to sideline these issues as 'out of sight, out of mind', but the reality is that it won’t take long for these pollutants to wash up on our shore and become an issue we all have to deal with. We share the world’s oceans, so it should be our shared responsibility to protect them.”

BLUE is an integrated team with digital marketing specialists working alongside PR, brand and creative, so we asked Account Executive, Olivia Webster, based in the Leeds office, what she likes about her digital marketing role at BLUE. “One of the reasons a digital marketing career is so exciting is because the field is constantly evolving as different platforms are introduced. At BLUE we have the resources to learn these new skills, and the freedom on our accounts to produce creative and data-driven work within a collaborative environment – making use of a wide range of platforms.

“BLUE’s company culture is very inclusive, and office days are made fun and friendly! BLUE is also good at employee recognition through their ‘View from the Bridge’ weekly internal newsletter, and the prized ‘employee of the quarter’ award, so the job feels very rewarding.

“Every day at BLUE is different, involving new challenges that keep you engaged and motivated,” she concluded.

We pride ourselves on a commitment to nurturing our talented team from within. Indeed all of our senior team started at BLUE as either AEs or AMs. As we grow, we’re continuously looking for world-class communications professionals with outstanding potential, talent and a drive to succeed.

If this sounds like you, we’re hiring account executives across all of our offices in London, Oxford, and Leeds.
