One of blue’s newest clients, the world-leading software company for ship design and operations, NAPA, hosted a day of seemp-related discussion and announcements in Singapore on 8th may, in a project managed by BLUE.

Preceding a debate and discussion of the incoming Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) – mandatory on all vessels post-January 2013 – event hosts, NAPA and fellow panellists, ClassNK were introduced through BLUE to key media, including the Singapore Business Times, Reuters, Dow Jones and Seatrade Asia as part of an announcement signalling a co-branded ‘best-in-class’ software solution for SEEMP.

Media were given access to Yasushi Nakamura, Executive Vice President, ClassNK and Juha Heikinheimo, President, NAPA. Who having signed an partnership agreement earlier in the day, explained to journalists the benefits that the partnership will deliver to the market.

The panel discussion entitled ‘The Challenges and Benefits of SEEMP Compliance’ started at 13.00. With the enforcement of regulation imminent, the event was attended by over 60 representatives from ship owners, industry bodies and trade associations, many of whom were invited from BLUE’s network of contacts. The debate was chaired by Katharina Stantzel, Deputy Managing Director of Intertanko who was joined by panellists Captain Nansi Purendu, HSEQ Manager, NYK Shipmanagement, Takeshi Shimada, General Manager, EEDI Division, ClassNK and Esa Henttinen Vice President, Business Development.

All the elements of the day fell neatly into place and the networking that followed the debate and discussion proved a fitting end to a fast-paced day of announcements, interviews and in-depth discussions on how to make shipping a more profitable, eco-efficient and technologically forward-looking industry.
