Filtersafe, a world leader in automatic seawater filtration, has appointed BLUE Communications as its PR and communications agency.

Filtersafe specialises in self-cleaning, high-capacity fine-mesh filters, which are used in important industries all over the world including Desalination, Oil & Gas, Agriculture and Ballast Water Treatment. The company successfully filters 25% of the world’s treated ballast using its revolutionary, self-cleaning mechanical filtration technology.

BLUE is specifically working on the ballast water treatment section of the business. The communications programme incorporates media relations, social media, digital content, speaker opportunities and webinars to support the achievement of the company’s commercial objectives and ambitions for the future.

As part of a $10m market-feedback programme, Filtersafe recognised the need to boost filtration standards in the ballast water treatment industry. After significant scientific research on corrosion prevention, Filtersafe removed 316L grade stainless steel from its filter screens supply chain for all seawater applications, replacing it with 904L stainless steel, which is up to 82% more durable. BLUE is translating this commercial direction into a thought leadership approach, highlighting Filtersafe’s industry expertise and proactive approach to solving industry challenges.

Commenting on the appointment, Amie Pascoe, Director and BLUE Engage Lead, said: “It’s fantastic to welcome another ballast sector client into the BLUE stable. Our thought leadership approach to communications has enabled Filtersafe to engage with the market and its target stakeholders around key issues and challenges. Filtersafe’s dedication to balancing quality and affordability, while prioritising environmental protection and regulatory compliance, tells a compelling narrative. We’re enjoying working with the team to share their story and engage audiences across multiple communications channels.”
