BLUE is pleased to announce that it has begun work with StratumFive, a company providing total voyage insight and optimisation to the marine industry. Founded in 2009, StratumFive is one of the fastest growing voyage intelligence companies in the shipping industry, servicing over 8,000 vessels within the global fleet.

BLUE is providing strategic communications consultancy and network engagement as StratumFive looks to drive its mission to employ the latest technologies to enhance and augment the observance of good seamanship and ensure safe, efficient voyages. StratumFive is one of the only providers in the industry today to offer an open platform that can analyse data and recommend optimisations based on any given factor that makes up a voyage – including fuel consumption, weather and routing, piracy, and cargo conditions.

With years of experience at sea, StratumFive’s leadership team aims to leverage the power of Big Data and machine learning in a way that makes sense for the industry – providing the insights and decision-making support that users need, while respecting the human experience element that is essential to the successful execution of a voyage.

“Digital disruption is fast becoming the buzzword in shipping. StratumFive stands out as a company that brings real-life seafaring experience to bear in using the latest digital technology to tackle the most pressing issues that the shipping industry faces. We’re excited to be taking this message to the wider market and we look forward to supporting StratumFive in their mission to bring about a real step change in the industry and to make shipping smarter,” said Alisdair Pettigrew, managing director at BLUE Communications.
